As a Lions Club we fundraiser for many people, organizations and events and never get to experience the results of our efforts. Today we had the privilege of a visit from Cohen, a young man we provided a guide dog. To speak to his mom and hear the change Kito has made, not only to Cohen, but to the whole family, was very heartwarming. Thank you Cohen and Kito for the lovely plaque.
As a Lions Club, we have to thank you, our residents, for continually supporting our fundraising efforts. You are all part of what we support. Thank you.
The Lion Max Simms Memorial Camp (LMSMC) is to be known, as the place where all challenged individuals will receive an enriching and rewarding camping experience.
A BRIEF HISTORY
In 1981 the Camp opened its doors, and for the first time, accessible camping became a reality in Newfoundland & Labrador. This was the culmination of several years of effort by many dedicated individuals and groups. Our Camp became a place where anyone could go regardless of their abilities. A place where corridors were as wide as rooms, and walkways throughout the site made it possible to move freely outside.
Please checkout the list of camp events at: http://lionmaxsimmsmemorialcamp.ca/events.php or contact your local Lions Club.
The Pouch Cove Lions Club recently sponsored an Autism Guide Dog. This dog, once trained, will go to a child in Newfoundland & Labrador aged 3-12. The Club is extremely proud to be able to contribute to this most worthy cause and look forward to being on hand when the dog is delivered.
Supporting Guide Dogs is one of the many organizations the Pouch Cove Lions Club support through our fundraising efforts. Recently the Club had the opportunity to donate a Hearing Ear Dog to a young women in Alberta. We received a very nice picture, note and letter from the person and family stating how much this donation has changed their lives forever. Through your continued support, it allows us to assist people not only in our community but in other parts of Canada. Wherever there is a need there is a LION! We Serve is our moto and the reason each and every one of us is proud to be a LION.
